This Part-Time position deals primarily with end user desktop support. This includes hardware and software installation, upgrade, maintenance and troubleshooting; related to Microsoft server and workstation OS, Microsoft Office and other applications.
Duties & Responsibilities
Oversees the daily performance of the College computer systems
Coordinates the use of computer software and media equipment
Troubleshoots and resolves computer-related desktop and network communication problems
Installs and maintains computers, printers, application software, and other peripheral equipment
Operates and tests network software and hardware
Provides over the phone support and customer service to clients experiencing technical issues
Performs basic departmental functions, such as locating materials, answering questions and tracking calls and services requests
Performs preventive network hardware and software maintenance
Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements
High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent and two (2) years of directly related experience in networking or managing workstations in a network environment, including experience in computer network industry standards and protocols; or the equivalent combination of experience, education or certification
Knowledge and understanding of College organization, goals and objectives, and policies and procedures
Possess knowledge of various lab based software and media
Possess excellent communication skills (Verbal and Written)
Working knowledge or ability to quickly learn the following operating systems/software: Windows desktop and server OS, MSOffice, Adobe, Ghost, FOG, Acronis, other as needed
Ability to complete daily requests in a competent and timely manner
Knowledge of networks, communication systems and network topologies
Knowledge of maintaining and installing computer equipment and peripherals
Willingness to work in the lab for a minimum period of one (1) year
Ability to work a flexible schedule including evening and weekend assignments
Ability to work well in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with students, faculty and staff
Essential Position
